You may have heard of 20 and 30 year term, but what about a 25 year term life insurance policy? In this blog post I’ll cover which life insurance companies offer 25 year term and why you may want to get a 25 year term policy. I’ll also cover the price difference between a 20, 25, and 30 year term, and cover options for no medical exam 25 year term life. You can get 25 year term quotes by using our quote tool right below this paragraph or keep reading for more information on 25 year term life insurance.
While most term life insurance companies offer 10,20, or 30 year term, not all offer 25 year term options. A 25 year term life insurance policy might make perfect sense for you if for example you are 40 and want coverage until retirement at 65, or if you’re 50 and want coverage into your mid 70s. Or you might be pricing out 30 year term and its out of your budget, but 20 year term is not long enough for your family situation - another reason to consider a 25 year term policy. Let’s explore which life insurance companies offer 25 year term life insurance.
Protective Life Insurance offers 25 year term life. They are an A.M Best A+ rated company that has been in business since 1907. They have very competitive rates and a unique term life policy that I like, which you can read more about in my article about “Why I Like Protective Life”.
SBLI is also an A+ rated life insurance company that offers a 25 year term period. Their rates are among the best when it comes to pricing for term life insurance.
Transamerica offers 25 year term policies and are rated A+. Transamerica is unique in a number of ways. While most life insurance carriers only allow people up to age 55 to be a 25 year term policy (which would expire at age 80), Transamerica allows you to buy a 25 year term policy all the way to age 65. If you are a senior and looking for a 20,25, or 30 year term policy, Transamerica is a great choice.
Transamerica also offers life insurance policies with minimum coverage of $25,000 while most other carriers require you to buy a minimum of $100,000 policy. If all you need is $25,000 or $50,000 of coverage, then Transamerica would also be a great choice.
Another unique aspect to Transamerica is that they allow no medical exam policies. Seniors up to age 60 can get up to $250,000 of coverage without a medical exam, and up to $50,000 of coverage up to age 70.
American General is another excellent company that offers a 25 year term life insurance policy. American General is an excellent choice if you are in a slightly high risk life insurance situation and looking for a 25 year term life insurance policy. American General has very competitive rates for diabetics, and we have had success getting people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Crohn's Disease, Irregular Heartbeat, people with pacemakers, and other conditions with American General.
Let’s take an example of a 50 year old male applying for a 20,25,and 30 year term policy for $100,000 at Standard Non Tobacco Rates and compare pricing among the various terms:
As you can see the 25 year term is a happy medium between 20 and 30 years and may be a good way to have a longer term, while still saving money off the 30 year term rate. Another option would be to apply for a 30 year term, and once you are approved, you can always decide to make a change to a 25 or 20 year term policy. If you apply with a company that offers a 25 year term, you will have more options to decide what policy to take once you are approved.
